The update, released yesterday, highlights worsening dryness in both the southeast and southwest, while northern regions remain largely drought‑free.
According to the South Dakota Drought Monitor, portions of Fall River and Custer counties are listed in the extreme category. About one‑third of the state’s area is not experiencing drought at this time.
