Police have arrested a parole absconder after locating him and the vehicle involved in a Sunday report of a woman calling for help from inside a car trunk.
The Rapid City Police Department released an update at 9:12 p.m. Sunday stating that officers had found 30‑year‑old Ty Bock and the light gray 2000 Toyota Camry he was believed to be driving. Bock was taken into custody on his active warrants and a parole hold.
Police say no one was found inside the vehicle when it was located. However, investigators are continuing to follow up on the original witness report, which indicated a female voice may have been calling for help from inside the trunk earlier in the day.
The incident began Sunday afternoon in the 1000 block of North LaCrosse Street, where a witness reported hearing a woman yelling for help from inside a vehicle’s trunk and identified Bock as the driver. At the time, police issued alerts as they worked multiple leads to find the vehicle.
Bock had been listed as a parole absconder, meaning he had left supervision while serving the remainder of a felony sentence in the community.
Police say the investigation remains active as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the witness report.
