Kane Youngman appeared in court Tuesday, where his attorney requested a delay in proceedings, saying the defense has not yet received discovery materials from prosecutors.
Youngman, who was taken into custody on March 13, faces a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the August 2025 death of Monte Gakin. During the hearing, Youngman’s attorney said additional charges, including felon in possession, were filed in mid‑March and noted that the state later obtained a search warrant for Youngman’s Facebook account. She told the court repeated requests for discovery had not been fulfilled.
The judge agreed to postpone the case until April 14 at 2:30 p.m., but said he was reluctant to order discovery prior to Youngman’s arraignment.
