A federal jury has convicted a Porcupine man on multiple assault and witness tampering charges following a three‑day trial in Rapid City.
49 year old Jimmy Pilcher, 49 faced charges of assault by strangulation, three counts of assault causing substantial bodily injury to an intimate partner, assault with a dangerous weapon, and witness tampering. The charges stem from repeated assaults against a former partner in 2025 on the Pine Ridge Reservation, including violations of a protection order and attempts to pressure the victim not to cooperate with authorities.
Pilcher faces up to 20 years in prison. Sentencing will be scheduled later. The case was prosecuted under the Major Crimes Act following an investigation by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.
