The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Dakota collected more than $9.5 million in fiscal year 2025 through fines, restitution and other enforcement efforts, according to U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons.
Nearly $8.9 million came from criminal cases, with about $8.8 million returned directly to crime victims. Remaining funds were deposited into the federal Crime Victims Fund, which helps cover medical expenses, lost wages and other costs. The office also helped recover an additional $16.7 million in coordination with other federal partners.
In addition, prosecutors handled more than $65 million in asset forfeitures, with funds placed into a federal forfeiture account supporting victims and law enforcement. Parsons said collecting restitution and federal debts will remain a top priority.
