The Rapid City City Council will meet at 6:30 this evening at City Hall, with a wide-ranging agenda that includes infrastructure spending, bond financing, and changes to city ordinances.
Councilors are scheduled to recognize Rapid City’s 150th anniversary with a proclamation from Mayor Jason Salamun before moving into routine business and public comment. Among the major consent items are several public works change orders, authorization to advertise bids for street and park projects, and approval of engineering and utility agreements totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The council will also consider resolutions related to the city’s drinking water system, including approval to issue a revenue bond to fund system improvements and the annual review of water rates. Additional financial items include acceptance of FEMA reimbursement related to December windstorm damage and acknowledgment of recent sales tax and treasury reports.
Non-consent items include a first reading of an ordinance that would allow vacation homes in accessory dwelling units under certain conditions. The council will also vote on several bid awards for park redevelopment, road rehabilitation, and recreational facility projects.
Public hearings are scheduled later in the meeting, including a request to vacate a right-of-way on East Boulevard North. The meeting is open to the public and will be televised, with a three-minute time limit for individual public comments.
