An Eagle Butte man has been found guilty on federal sexual abuse charges following a three-day jury trial in Rapid City.
A federal jury on May 7 convicted 24-year-old Emanual Semon of sexual abuse without consent and sexual abuse of a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Dakota.
Prosecutors said the charges stem from a July 3, 2024, incident at a residence on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where Semon engaged in sexual activity with a juvenile female without her consent. The incident was interrupted when an adult entered the room.
Semon faces a possible sentence of up to life in prison, along with fines, supervised release and special assessments. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
