A juvenile male was detained May 16 after a stolen vehicle pursuit ended with a crash into Rapid Creek, police said.
An officer spotted a silver SUV around 10:50 p.m. that matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen earlier. After confirming the vehicle’s license plate, police attempted a traffic stop.
The driver instead fled at a high rate of speed. Authorities said the vehicle lost control while traveling northbound on Maple Avenue near Omaha Street and left the roadway, coming to rest in Rapid Creek.
The driver and passengers began to exit the vehicle before officers detained them. The driver was identified as a juvenile male and referred to the juvenile justice system.
No additional details about injuries or charges were immediately released.
