Rapid City has been ranked the third-best city in the nation for summer jobs, according to a new WalletHub report.
The study compared more than 180 U.S. cities across factors such as employment opportunities, affordability and quality of life. South Burlington, Vermont, and Scottsdale, Arizona, took the top two spots.
Mayor Jason Salamun said the ranking reflects the city’s strong mix of tourism-driven jobs, local businesses and major retailers.
WalletHub noted Rapid City has one of the largest seasonal employment increases in the country, along with a low unemployment rate for workers ages 16 to 24 and relatively low commuting costs.
Sioux Falls ranked 26th in the report, while other nearby cities included Bismarck at ninth and Omaha at 22nd.
