Long-distance runner Mai Richards completed a 450-mile trek across South Dakota on Monday, finishing in Sturgis as part of her “Miles of Honor” tribute to military service members and veterans.
Richards carried the American flag from Sioux Falls, honoring fallen service members along the route before arriving to a crowd at Harley-Davidson Rally Point.
She was escorted into Sturgis by American Legion Riders and police. The welcome ceremony included a moment of silence, a 21-gun salute and the playing of TAPS.
