Two parolees were arrested after a report of gunfire Saturday morning at a Rapid City park, police said.
Officers responded around 7:40 a.m. to the park at 300 Omaha St. after a caller reported a man firing a handgun near a pond. Police quickly located one suspect, identified as 37-year-old Tommy Bluebird of Rapid City.
A second man fled along a nearby bike path and discarded a firearm before being caught after a brief foot pursuit. He was identified as 39-year-old Jon Caldwell of Rapid City.
Police said both men were on parole. Bluebird was arrested on a parole hold, while Caldwell was arrested for obstruction and a parole hold. The firearm was recovered, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and additional state and federal gun charges are expected.
