Police are investigating a vehicle burglary reported May 22 in which a loaded handgun was stolen from an unlocked pickup, authorities said.
Officers responded around 7:40 a.m. to the 800 block of North Spruce Street after a resident reported their vehicle had been burglarized overnight. The owner told police a handgun had been taken from inside the pickup.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry, and the vehicle had been left unlocked.
The case has been forwarded to the Rapid City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation.
