A Rapid City man has pleaded guilty to second-degree rape as part of a plea agreement that reduced more serious charges, court officials said.
Hayden Czerwonka, 23, entered the plea Wednesday, May 28, during a change of plea hearing before Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey Connolly at the Pennington County Courthouse.
Czerwonka had originally been indicted on two counts of first-degree rape involving an 11-year-old child for incidents alleged to have occurred between July 12, 2021, and June 7, 2022.
Court records show Czerwonka was previously convicted in March 2022 of violating a protection order related to stalking, which had been cited in the habitual offender filing.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 20 at 9 a.m.
