A federal court on Friday ordered the release of former Oglala Sioux Tribe President Julian Bear Runner following a hearing on alleged violations of his supervised release.
U.S. Probation had sought to revoke his release, accusing him of using marijuana and failing to make required restitution payments tied to his 2024 conviction for wire fraud, larceny, embezzlement, and theft from a tribal organization. Bear Runner denied the allegations in court.
The judge allowed his release pending a final revocation hearing scheduled for July 10, when the court will determine whether any violations occurred.
