Black Hills Energy plans to decommission an overhead powerline next week near downtown Rapid City, with work scheduled during late evening and overnight hours to minimize traffic disruptions.
According to company officials, the project will begin at approximately 9 p.m. next Wednesday along Fifth Street, covering the stretch from the alley south of Kansas City Street to the alley north of Main Street.
Due to the high volume of daytime traffic in the area, crews will complete the work overnight to create a safer environment for both workers and motorists. During the project, one lane of Fifth Street will be closed, and drivers are urged to use caution when traveling through the area.
Officials expect the work to be completed in a single night.
