The 40th annual Spring Volksmarch at Crazy Horse Memorial is set for tomorrow, offering visitors a unique opportunity to hike to the top of the world’s largest mountain carving.
Participants can take part in the one-day event by trekking the 6.2-mile trail to the summit of the monument. Registration for the hike begins at 7 a.m.
Admission to the memorial will be waived for those who bring a minimum donation of three canned food items per person for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive. Those without donations will be charged regular admission rates. In addition, all hikers are required to pay a $4 participation fee.
The event is a longstanding tradition that draws hikers from across the region each year.
