A Brookings man died Thursday morning after suffering a medical emergency at Deerfield Lake, according to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews were called to the area around 10:30 a.m. on June 4 following a report of a person in distress. Responders found 68-year-old Terry Olson and immediately attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said early information suggests the death was due to a medical issue, and there are no signs of foul play.
Several agencies responded to the call.
The incident remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
