The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting June 11–12 at Heartland Energy in Madison.
The meeting will be conducted via Zoom and livestream, with Thursday’s session beginning at 1 p.m. CDT. A public hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m., followed by an open forum. The livestream will be available at sd.net.
Commissioners are expected to address several key topics, including final decisions on major hunting seasons such as Black Hills firearm elk, deer licenses, and antelope licenses. Other action items include the Elk Action Plan and bison hunting license allocations, along with discussions on limited draw license policies.
Wildlife and fisheries updates will also be presented, including reports on walleye spawning, hatchery development, and proposed regulations for Belle Fourche walleye. Plans for aquatic invasive species management and a Canada goose action plan are also anticipated.
Parks and administrative items on the agenda include a summer outlook for Custer State Park, Mickelson Trail event schedules, 2026 marketing plans, and reports on camping usage, revenue, and land acquisition priorities.
