The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) has extended the public comment period for the proposed reconstruction of U.S. Highway 85 from the Wyoming state line to U.S. Highway 14A near Cheyenne Crossing.
The project was presented during a public meeting open house held June 4, 2026, aimed at sharing design plans and gathering community feedback. Officials say the extension—now running through Friday, Sept. 4, 2026—comes in response to requests from residents seeking more time to review the proposal and submit input.
Project materials remain available online, allowing those who missed the meeting to get details and provide feedback.
Written comments can be submitted through the project website or emailed to SDDOT Project Manager Mark Malone. Transportation officials emphasized that public input will play a key role in shaping final project plans.
For more information, residents can contact Malone at 605-773-5409 or via email.
