Fire crews continue to make progress on the South Fork Fire burning in northwestern Nebraska.
As of Sunday evening, the wildfire has burned nearly 39,000 acres and is now about 55 percent contained.
More than 500 firefighters remain on the lines, working to strengthen containment and protect communities near Crawford and Fort Robinson State Park.
Officials say cooler, more humid conditions have helped slow the fire in recent days, but hot, dry weather could increase fire danger again this week.
Evacuations are still in place for some areas, and smoke from the fire has drifted into parts of South Dakota and Wyoming.
Authorities say the fire remains under investigation, and residents in affected areas should continue to follow local emergency guidance.
