Rapid City Area Schools is providing free meals to children throughout the summer to help ensure kids have access to food while school is out.
The program serves meals at 11 locations across the city, with five sites also offering breakfast. Officials say about 500 lunches are being served daily, highlighting strong community need.
Through partnerships with the Black Hills Area Community Foundation and Meals on Wheels of South Dakota, adults and guardians accompanying children can also receive free meals.
Organizers say feeding families together not only boosts participation but helps meet basic needs and strengthen the community. Families can visit any location, regardless of where their child attends school.
