Gas prices are rising across South Dakota and the nation. AAA reports The state average climbed about 5 cents last week to $3.02 per gallon, with prices ranging from $2.86 to $3.24. While higher than a month ago, they’re still nearly 20cents lower than a year ago. Diesel also saw a sharp national jump, now at $3.39/gallon, up 17 cents.
Rapid City’s current Average is 3.24.9, up 2 cents since last week but 30 cents lower than a year ago but well above the 2.86 average being paid currently in Sioux Falls.
Global tensions, including recent U.S. and Iran conflict, are fueling the price surge. Analysts predict gas prices could rise another 7–15 cents in the coming week, with diesel up another 10–20 cents.
