Michael Andrews, 34, was sentenced to eight years in prison—one year suspended—for a brutal assault where he punched and stomped a sleeping woman’s face 50 times in August 2024. Prosecutors said the attack stemmed from her “sleeping in his spot.”
Andrews also received two concurrent years for aiding and abetting property damage related to a separate burglary a month earlier. Under a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and a reduced property damage charge, with three misdemeanor cases dismissed.
Judge Jeffrey Connolly, who handled the sentencing, called the case among the most extreme he’s seen. While the prosecution requested a 10-year sentence, the defense argued for addiction treatment, citing Andrews’ long-term alcohol abuse.
