Suspect Charged After Violent Assault

Police responded to a reported assault Tuesday afternoon at Destiny FourSquare Church on E. Philadelphia Street. Authorities say 39-year-old Rebecca Goodbear attacked an employee during a scheduled meeting, allegedly attempting to strangle the individual without provocation. Another staff member intervened, stopping the attack. Goodbear fled but was arrested shortly after on E. North Street. Due to the severity of the incident, she faces charges of Attempted Murder and is being held at the Pennington County Jail. The victim’s condition has not been disclosed.
