Elevate Rapid City has appointed Jack Valentine as its new president and CEO, effective July 27.
Valentine, a U.S. Marine veteran and former law enforcement leader, most recently served as operations division director for the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development, overseeing finance, marketing and administrative operations.
Elevate Rapid City Board Chair Tom Weaver said Valentine emerged from a national search that attracted more than 200 candidates, citing his experience in economic development, leadership and partnership building.
Valentine succeeds Tom Johnson, who left the organization in January for a position in Texas. Interim leaders Todd Kenner and Darren Haar have guided the organization during the transition.
Elevate Rapid City serves as the Black Hills region’s primary economic development organization, focusing on business growth, workforce development and job creation.
