Fireworks returned to Mount Rushmore on Friday night for the first time in six years as the national memorial hosted a celebration tied to America’s 250th anniversary.
President Donald Trump headlined the event, delivering remarks focused on American history, freedom and national identity. The program also featured military bands, flyovers and tributes to the armed services before the fireworks display.
Attendance was limited to lottery-selected ticket holders, making the event especially memorable for many spectators.
State and federal leaders, including Gov. Larry Rhoden, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Sen. Mike Rounds and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, were among those in attendance.
