The Rapid City Council will meet this evening with a full agenda that includes the swearing-in of newly elected council members, elections for council leadership positions, several rezoning requests, and major infrastructure and recreation projects.
The meeting will feature recognition of outgoing Council Member Rod Pettigrew, followed by oaths of office for Josh Biberdorf, Lindsey Seachris, Kevin Maher, John Roberts and Laura Armstrong. Council members will then elect a council president and vice president.
Among the larger items, the council is scheduled to consider multiple rezoning requests involving GCC Dacotah properties near Cement Plant Road and several development-related rezoning proposals tied to Elevate Rapid City near Mall Drive and Haines Avenue.
Council members will also review projects including purchases for the Dakota Field and Lighting project, adoption of the city’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan, acceptance of a nearly $5 million federal recycling infrastructure grant, and a $1 million downtown railroad safety corridor study funded through grant dollars.
The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, at City Hall.
