Pennington County commissioners on Tuesday continued work on a proposed alternative energy ordinance, advanced a new county sales tax proposal, and heard an extensive update on the future of rural ambulance service.
Commissioners voted to continue the second reading of an amendment to the county’s alternative energy regulations after discussion focused on solar projects, battery storage facilities, decommissioning requirements, and emergency response concerns.
The board also approved the first reading of an ordinance that would establish a half-percent county sales and use tax under Senate Bill 96. County officials said the tax would help offset owner-occupied property taxes. A second reading is scheduled for July 21.
