Newly elected city commissioners Dustin Schumacher and Valerie Meiners were sworn into office this week, beginning three-year terms on the Lead City Commission. The pair replace outgoing commissioners Rob Carr and Al Rohrer.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, Mayor Dustin Heupel announced committee assignments. Roger Thomas was named commission president and will preside over meetings in the mayor’s absence while also serving as commissioner of finance and revenue. Dory Hanson will oversee streets and public utilities, Meiners will serve as commissioner of public safety, and Schumacher will oversee public buildings and grounds.
The commission also retained Tim Johns as city attorney and Interstate Engineering as the city’s engineering firm.
