A 21-year-old Rapid City man pleaded guilty Thursday to two felony counts involving the possession of illegal child exploitation material in Pennington County Court.
Levi Johnson entered the guilty pleas during a change-of-plea hearing before Presiding Circuit Judge Heidi Linngren. Johnson had originally been indicted on three counts, but one charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Under the agreement, the state will recommend concurrent sentences. Each Class 4 felony count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine, along with a mandatory minimum prison sentence under South Dakota law.
Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 14.
