Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun presented his proposed 2026 city budget during a public special session held on July 28 at City Hall. The meeting, open to residents, featured a formal presentation followed by a Q&A with City Council members. While a quorum was present, no votes were taken during the session.
The City Council has scheduled budget review sessions from August 5–8, each running from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. These sessions will include discussions with department directors and are also open to the public. By law, the budget must pass two formal readings before September 30.
Mayor Salamun emphasized transparency and encouraged community involvement, noting that the budget reflects priorities for infrastructure, public services, and long-term growth.
