A fast-moving timber and grass fire broke out near Flormann Street and Skyline Drive in Rapid City on Tuesday evening, threatening nearby homes and prompting evacuations. Firefighters responded around 6:30 p.m. as the blaze spread through dry vegetation.
By late Tuesday night, the Rapid City Fire Department reported the fire was contained. No injuries were reported, and firefighters will continue monitoring hotspots. The cause remains under investigation.
