On September 24, 2025, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office carried out alcohol compliance checks at 11 licensed establishments in Wall and New Underwood. These checks are part of ongoing efforts to ensure adherence to state laws regarding the sale of alcohol, particularly to underage individuals. Of the businesses inspected, 10 were found to be in full compliance.
One establishment, BJ’s Country Store located in New Underwood, was found in violation after selling alcohol to an underage informant. As a result, an employee received a citation. Businesses found in violation may also face administrative penalties, including a $1,000 fine for a first offense, $2,000 for a second, and potential revocation of their liquor or business license upon a third offense.
