Pennington County Deputies responded to a report from the owners of a horse found deceased near McCurdy Gulch Road, close to Pactola Reservoir shortly after 9 am yesterday. Preliminary findings suggest the animal was fatally injured by an unknown individual using a shovel.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident in collaboration with a Field Veterinarian from the South Dakota Animal Industry Board. Authorities believe the event occurred within 24 hours of the discovery and are urging residents in the area to review any surveillance footage they may have.
