A two-vehicle collision west of Rapid City this morning left three people injured, including one fatality.
According to preliminary reports, a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west on Sheridan Lake Road crossed the center line on an icy hill and struck an eastbound 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on near Boulder Hill Road.
The Silverado’s 52-year old driver who is from Rapid City, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a 51-year-old female passenger from Lambert, Montana was fatally injured. Neither were wearing seat belts. The Jeep’s driver, a 29 year-old female from Rapid City sustained minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt.
Names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating and all information released is preliminary
