The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) has officially opened the application period for the E15 Fuel Tax Refund Program, offering financial incentives to fuel marketers who sell ethanol‑blended gasoline in the state.
Applications will be accepted from Jan. 1 through Jan. 30, 2026.
The program provides refunds of up to 5 cents per gallon for E15 — gasoline blended with 15% ethanol — that was sold and dispensed in South Dakota during the previous calendar year. Eligible refunds apply to E15 gallons sold between 2025 and 2029.
To qualify, applicants must be licensed marketers and must meet alternative fuel compatibility requirements set by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
GOED officials say the program is designed to support the state’s ethanol industry, encourage broader use of higher‑blend fuels, and reduce costs for participating fuel marketers.
