A teenage girl has died and several other juveniles were injured after a single‑vehicle rollover crash Saturday evening in the 2500 block of Arrowhead Drive, according to the Rapid City Police Department.
Emergency crews were called to the scene around 6 p.m. on January 17. Responders found a Jeep Wrangler that had left the roadway and rolled, carrying six juvenile occupants.
Five of the teens were transported to the hospital. One female occupant later died from her injuries. Authorities are withholding her name until family members can be notified.
Another juvenile suffered critical injuries, while three others were treated for serious but non‑life‑threatening injuries. Police say the driver of the Jeep was not injured.
The RCPD’s Critical Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation into what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Officials say the inquiry remains active, and additional details will be released as appropriate.
The department has not yet disclosed what factors may have contributed to the crash.
