South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds announced Thursday that he will seek a third U.S. Senate term, saying his work for the state “is not done.” In a campaign video and interview, Rounds highlighted ongoing priorities, including securing the future of the B‑21 bomber mission at Ellsworth Air Force Base and advancing policies he says will help South Dakotans keep more of their earnings.
Rounds also emphasized border security, limiting drug trafficking, and supporting cattle producers through measures like mandatory country‑of‑origin labeling. He noted that his committee roles — including Banking, Indian Affairs, Intelligence, and Appropriations — allow him to address key issues affecting the state. He said he and Sen. John Thune coordinate to ensure South Dakota is represented on major committees, including Commerce and Agriculture.
Rounds stressed his long-standing ties to South Dakota, saying he works in Washington but returns home nearly every weekend. If reelected on November 3, he would serve through 2032.
