Senate Backs Rhoden’s Pick of Dean Kirkeby for GFP Commission Seat

The South Dakota State Senate confirmed Governor Larry Rhoden’s appointment of Dean Kirkeby to the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Commission.

Kirkeby is a lifelong South Dakotan and a 1978 graduate of South Dakota State University. He operates a family farm with his sons and provides public access for deer and pheasant hunters. A licensed private pilot, he incorporates aerial surveying into his farm management, monitoring livestock, cropland, and Conservation Reserve Program acres. He also served for more than two decades on the Merton Township board.

Kirkeby succeeds Jon Locken, who completed his eight-year term in January.
