Governor Larry Rhoden on Thursday signed HB 1042, approving construction of a new vehicle maintenance shop for the South Dakota National Guard in Sturgis.
Rhoden said in a statement. “Our guardsmen serve with excellence and play a key role in keeping our state and nation safe,” “By investing in this maintenance facility, we’re ensuring the Guard has the tools and equipment needed to respond in times of crisis.”
The bill was signed during a ceremony attended by several Guardsmen. The governor included the Sturgis maintenance shop as one of his budget priorities and visited the facility in December to highlight the need for the new building.
So far this legislative session, Rhoden has signed 23 bills and issued one veto.
