A Black Hawk man has pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges accusing him of sexually abusing a young child.
Matthew Hall entered his pleas Monday during an arraignment before Circuit Judge Joshua Hendrickson in Pennington County.
Hall is charged with first‑degree rape, aggravated incest, and sexual contact with a child under 16, stemming from a July 1, 2019 incident.
In South Dakota, first‑degree rape is a Class C felony punishable by up to life in prison and a $50,000 fine, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years. Aggravated incest and sexual contact with a child under 16 are Class 3 felonies, each carrying up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
Hall’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 18 at 3:15 p.m.
