A Pine Ridge man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for voluntary manslaughter in a 2025 killing on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
Eric Anduja, 53, was sentenced April 13, 2026, to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment. He pleaded guilty Jan. 6.
Authorities say Anduja, who was intoxicated, stabbed Alban “Boots” Vitales in the neck during an argument. Vitales fled the home and later died on a neighbor’s doorstep.
The case was prosecuted under the Major Crimes Act. The FBI and Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety investigated, and Anduja was remanded to U.S. Marshals custody.
