North Haines Avenue will close to through‑traffic starting in early May as a major reconstruction project gets underway.
The $3.1 million project is scheduled to begin May 4. Highway Superintendent Troy Eastman said traffic will need to be fully restricted for at least 72 hours at times to protect the road’s base stabilization, though one lane will remain open for local access whenever possible.
The project spans from about a half mile south of Peterson Road to a quarter mile north of Husker Place, covering roughly four miles. Commissioner Rich Liggett urged motorists who don’t live in the area to plan alternate routes, including Erickson Ranch Road and Elk Vale Road. The full closure is expected to last about six weeks starting May 5.
