Gary Pourier, 59, was convicted in connection with a July 2024 incident at a convenience store near Porcupine involving a 10‑year‑old girl. The child reported the contact to a guardian, leading to an investigation by the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety and later the FBI because of the victim’s age.
Court records show investigators also uncovered earlier allegations involving minors from 2005 and 2023. Prosecutors ultimately charged Pourier for offenses involving four victims.
Because the crimes occurred in Indian Country, the case was prosecuted in federal court under the Major Crimes Act. Pourier faces potential penalties of up to life in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and mandatory assessments to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 3, and he remains in custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
