Midco announced a $43 million investment to complete its Fiber Forward initiative in South Dakota, including $9.2 million for the Rapid City area.
The upgrades will deliver internet speeds of up to 4 Gbps download and 1 Gbps upload to more than 35,000 homes and businesses across Rapid City, Box Elder, Piedmont, Summerset and greater Pennington County over the next three years. Fiber upgrades have already reached 23,000 homes and businesses in the region.
The investment brings Midco’s total Fiber Forward spending in South Dakota to more than $160 million. Company leaders and state and local officials say the improvements will support economic growth, remote work, education, health care and community services.
