Governor Larry Rhoden and Attorney General Marty Jackley are moving forward with implementation of new legislation aimed at protecting law enforcement officers from doxxing, the online release of personal information intended to threaten or intimidate.
Rhoden and Jackley recently sent a letter to law enforcement agencies across the state outlining how House Bill 1084 will be put into effect. The law, passed during the 2026 legislative session, is designed to protect officers’ personal information from being shared online.
During the same legislative session, the governor also worked with law enforcement agencies and Rep. Matt Roby to establish doxxing as a crime. House Bill 1298, which extends protections to both law enforcement officers and judges, was signed into law and takes effect July 1.
State officials said the new laws are intended to address this growing threat and improve safety for public servants and their families.
