South Dakota’s top high-achieving high school seniors were honored this week at the 36th Annual Academic Excellence Recognition Luncheon.
The event, hosted Monday by Gov. Larry Rhoden’s office and the Associated School Boards of South Dakota, recognized students ranked in the top 1 percent of the Class of 2026 from public, private and tribal schools across the state.
Lt. Gov. Tony Venhuizen praised the students’ dedication and hard work, calling their achievements a reason for optimism about the state’s future. ASBSD President Shane Roth echoed those remarks, encouraging the students to become South Dakota’s next generation of leaders.
The event was sponsored by several education and business organizations.
