Douglas High School officials confirmed that a reported bomb threat was investigated and determined to be a hoax. District announced students were being evacuated due to the threat at around 10:40 yesterday morning.
Students and staff followed established safety procedures while local and federal law enforcement agencies conducted a thorough assessment of the building. Authorities found no danger, and the school was secured without incident.
District officials said the safety and well‑being of students and staff remained the top priority throughout the response. The district emphasized that all threats are taken seriously and handled with appropriate precautionary measures.
The Douglas School District thanked the Box Elder Police Department, Ellsworth Air Force Base 28th Security Forces Squadron, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and the Rapid City Fire Department for their prompt response and assistance.
