The Rapid City City Hall lobby is now a permanent drop‑off location for donated cell phones and related items benefiting the 911 Cell Phone Bank.
The city, working with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office Victim’s Specialist Program, collected 419 phones during a recent holiday drive. With its success, City Hall will continue accepting used cell phones, tablets, chargers and cords year‑round.
Donated items are refurbished, securely erased or recycled, then distributed to partner agencies to provide phones to victims of violent crimes.
Additional donations are also accepted at the Public Safety Building on Kansas City Street. For more information, residents can contact the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office Victim’s Specialist Program.
