Two people were arrested late May 13 after a traffic stop led to a foot chase and a crashing vehicle, police said.
Officers stopped a vehicle near Mt. Rushmore Road and Cathedral Drive around 10:40 p.m. for a traffic violation. The driver ran from the scene, while the passenger exited just before the unattended vehicle rolled down a hill, crashed through a fence, and hit a tree.
The passenger, 23-year-old Devina Mayotte, was detained at the scene. Officers later located the driver, 34-year-old Bradley Reum, hiding in a nearby backyard.
Police say Reum was on parole with active warrants. A search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, and paraphernalia.
Reum was arrested for obstruction, drug possession, and warrants, while Mayotte was arrested for drug possession and distribution. Both were taken to the Pennington County Jail.
